What are overnight oats?

Overnight oats are just rolled oats soaked overnight with tasty ingredients and ready for you to eat in the morning for breakfast, especially for those super busy days . They take less then 5 minutes to make, taste like a dessert and full of great nutrients to get the day started. Even your kids will love them.

Not only are they good for you, I love that you can make them ahead the night before and if you make a big batch you’ll have pre made breakfast for the next 3 or 4 days. They are super easy to customize just add your favorite ingredients.

Base Ingredients:

Mason jar

½ cup of rolled oats

⅔ cup of almond milk or Greek yogurt for 3xtra creamy

2 tbsp of chia seeds optional

Mix ingredients

Start by combining rolled or old fashioned oats with your favorite milk and / or coconut or Greek yogurt and chia seedsin a 8 oz. mason jar, resealable container or a bowl.

Blueberry cheese cake

You’ll need to make a cottage cheese mixture

1/3 cup of cottage cheese

¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract or ½ scoop of vanilla protein powder

1-2 teaspoon of honey, maple syrup or a couple drops of stevia

Stevia is an all natural sweetener that is calorie free but it is very sweet so only a couple drops will do.

You’ll also need

¼ cup of blueberries

Layer the blueberries and cottage cheese mixture

Sprinkle a couple pecans or walnuts.

Seal up the container and park it in the fridge overnight.

Carrot cake

Use the same cottage cheese mixture that we made for the blueberry cheese cake.

½ cup of the oatmeal mixture

1 tbsp maple syrup

½ teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon of grated carrots

½ tablespoon of chopped pecans

½ teaspoon of raisins

Layer oatmeal mixture and cottage cheese mixture

Top with grated carrots, pecans and raisins.

Apple pie

½ cup of the oatmeal mixture

½ cup chopped apples

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 to 2 teaspoons of honey

Garbish with chopped apples and cinnamon

Seal and chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.

The next morning, you can heat the glass jar up in the microwave for a hot breakfast or enjoy your overnight oats cold straight from the fridge. You can add more milk and any fun toppings of your choice.

The mixture will keep for up to 3 to 4 days. However, once you are experienced, you’ll have no problem whipping up another batch midweek if needed!
